FIUA Company History
Film Insurance Underwriting Agencies Pty Ltd (FIUA) was formed specifically to provide insurance coverages for the film and television industry in Australia and New Zealand and, as such, over a period in excess of 20 years, has provided innovative professional service to the industry.

Due to its Australian location it is in command of the requirements of the local industry and has all the capabilities to provide the expertise that is necessary. Our aim is to provide the highest level of professional service to all clients. Our client base ranges from photographers doing one off film shoots to large production houses producing film and television including feature films, television series, documentaries and animated projects. The company is headed by Neil McEwin and Joe Lo Surdo who have had between them in excess of fifty years in the film insurance industry.
Supporting them is a vibrant team all specialising in the film and television industry and dedicated to providing professional service to the entertainment community. Since its inception in 1987 the Company has been following a philosophy of providing exceptional service, support and understanding to the film industry.
We have always been proactive within the industry and are members of Screen Producers Association of Australia (S.P.A.A.) and Screen Production and Development Association of New Zealand (S.P.A.D.A.) and sponsors of The Shorts Film Festival.
FIUA are proud to provide their services at seminars to many industry bodies such as Australian Film Television and Radio School (A.F.T.R.S.), and associations supporting young filmmakers and documentary filmmakers.
FIUA is also proud to be a founding member of the Underwriting Agencies Council (U.A.C.) which was formed to set guidelines ensuring that professional standards are met by the industry.
All members hold appropriate licences issued by the Australian Securities & Investments Commission under the Financial Services Act.
